The Souderton Borough quickly developed after a section of rail road was built in 1853. Along with the railroad began the ability to sustain more business. Originally known for the thriving clothing mills and cigar factories many people came from the surrounding farms looking for work. Post WWII the clothing industry was no longer a viable business and many workers went back to the large family farms that were beginning to build processing plants for their crops. The borough of Souderton is part of the Souderton Area School District. The community is proud to have recently completed their brand new state of the art high school campus that will be home to all students in the area between ninth and twelfth grades. With this new high school as well as many surrounding business opportunities the Souderton Area is poised for continued growth in the years to come. With plenty of businesses for whatever your needs from grocery stores to restaurants, and home improvements to home décor, the Souderton area has within the last number of years become a popular destination for many people looking for the amenities of the city with the feel of a small town. I believe that we are at a special place where a quality home may not be this reasonable for many years. Interest rates are low and there are plenty of good homes available that have reduced their asking prices significantly. |
